Traditional Therapies Integrated into Psychotherapy Healing Services, LLC

The following paragraphs detail the traditional psychotherapy frameworks and approaches that Celeste Emelia Mattingly, LCSW, seamlessly integrates into her talk therapy sessions. Learn to co-create your best self.

Cognitive Behavioral/Restructuring Therapy & Quantum Cognition

Explore the thoughts and actions that are keeping you trapped in self-defeating patterns.

Celeste Emelia Mattingly, LCSW takes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to a deeper level with Cognitive Restructuring. Additionally she has begun teaching Quantum Cognition/Psychology to her clients with tremendous results. Generally, these paradigm shifting techniques are not readily identified as belonging to these particular theoretical frameworks, during talk-therapy sessions, but are seamlessly integrated into the sessions that Celeste offers. This is an action-oriented treatment, and you may be given assignments to complete between sessions. Over the course of the therapy, you will learn to recognize and replace self-defeating thoughts and actions with more realistic and positive ones.

CBT is frequently used to treat anxiety disorders, certain mood disorders, and insomnia; while Cognitive Restructuring is particularly helpful for post-traumatic stress disorder. These therapies readily associate with the fifth chakra, named Visuddha, which is associated with self-expression and assertiveness. Self-expression and assertiveness are integral to help you achieve optimal mental health.

Behavior Modification Therapy

Behavior Modification Therapy is a structured form of therapy that works to create objective and measurable changes in our daily lives.

It is beneficial for overcoming negative patterns that become ingrained over years of struggling with mental health and addiction issues. Typically this therapy works by employing a system of reward for positive action. However, according to leading authorities changing one’s behavior for the better is accomplished best with consciousness-raising, because elevated consciousness- also being recognized as enlightenment- becomes the reward. When consciousness-raising is the practiced modality it is also the desired outcome of Behavior Modification Therapy.

The participant’s healing work is mastering the art of “choice” and the practice of making informed decisions that can only occur as the individual learns to “make conscious what is unconscious.” This internal process is explored and learned in talk-therapy sessions, however, execution, must take place outside of the therapy sessions.

The goal of this therapy is to clear your environmental roadblocks that are preventing you from achieving success and nurturing your heart’s deepest desires. The old refrain of, “someday, I will” is replaced by “today, I am.” In addition to helping you create a more satisfying life this therapy is remarkably effective for removing road-blocks that life-coaching strategies miss.

In an Integrated/Eclectic approach this therapy may not be readily identified as belonging to this particular theoretical framework, however, Behavior Modification is seamlessly integrated into the talk therapy sessions that Celeste offers.

Body Oriented Psychotherapy

Body Oriented Psychotherapy, which is also referred to as Somatic Therapy, regards mental illness as an imbalance that manifests itself on the physical, as well as emotional, level.

It is believed that because it takes a physical form, mental illness can also be assisted to be remedied through the body.

Celeste has been combining Body Oriented Psychotherapy into her eclectic approach for over a decade. She uses a combined approach of verbal communication and structured physical activities to inspire your emotional healing. When you experience depression or anxiety, these emotions can manifest in the form of body tension, teeth grinding, irregular breathing and unhealthy posture.

Celeste teaches breathing, posture, mindfulness, basics of tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique), chakra-balancing—and other physical exercises—such as the basics of T’ai Chi and Pan Gu Shengong, to help you become aware and capable of healing your emotional state.

Body Oriented Psychotherapy is effective precisely because it uses multiple entry points into understanding the human psyche and moving toward total integration, and this is especially true for the Human Energy System (HES) and the chakras. Celeste holds classes to teach chakra-balancing and has created an entire workbook for Celestial Psychology® in order for you to fully integrate body, mind, emotion, and spirit.

Interpersonal Therapy

Interpersonal Therapy focuses on the current relationships you have with family members, colleagues, and other persons in your life.

There are both short and long term forms of this therapy. In the short-term, sessions are on a weekly basis for several months, the longer-maintenance form of this therapy, involves monthly sessions over a period of two to three years.

This therapy has been made famous by the book, I’m OK, You’re OK, by Thomas A. Harris, in the late 1960’s. This therapy works wonders by uncovering the interpersonal sources of your emotional discontent which often initiate or exacerbate depressive episodes. Once your area of stress has been discovered, you will move toward identifying and expressing the underlying emotions surrounding the stressors.

Balancing your fourth chakra, known as Anahata—the heart center—is an integrated method and also a goal of this work. You will learn communication skills and develop assertiveness – one of the most important aspects of talk therapy.

In an Integrated/Eclectic approach Interpersonal Therapy may not be readily identified as a particular theoretical framework, being utilized however, Interpersonal Therapy seamlessly integrates into the talk therapy sessions that Celeste offers at Psychotherapy Healing Services, LLC.

Existential Therapy

Existential Therapy seamlessly integrates into traditional “talk” therapy, as a method of achieving authenticity and inner calm.

Learning about Existential Therapy, (although it may not be identified as such during sessions) offers a unique opportunity to relieve your anxiety and promote your healing process as well. Celeste Emelia Mattingly, LCSW employs techniques which may include balancing your second chakra, known as Svadhisthana, which is readily associated with the release of anxiety. You will learn controlled movement, creative visualization, and the practice of creating your own affirmations. If you are seeking to break free of old patterns, assume control of your life, and develop your core self you can benefit greatly from the Existential Therapy which is fully integrated into talk therapy sessions with Celeste.

Humanistic & Transpersonal Therapies

Two of the most strikingly effective and contemporary therapies integrated into Celeste Emelia Mattingly, LCSW’s work are the Humanistic & Transpersonal Therapies.

It is important to note that although these therapies are similar practices, they are not identical. They are both powerful therapies and are often used in conjunction with other therapies for maximum benefit. These therapies incorporate a spiritual perspective and transcendent nature that is associated with the sixth chakra, named Ajna.

Regarding the Humanistic Psychologies, the following is an excerpt from Celestial Psychology®: A Workbook for Chakras, Psychological Theory, and Conscious Evolution, by Celeste Emelia Mattingly, LCSW.

“Abraham H. Maslow (1908–1970) was the founder of Humanistic Psychology, and is best known for creating the Hierarchy of Needs theory, famously depicted in the shape of a pyramid. In Maslow’s opinion, once we are self-actualized and at the top of the pyramid, we are capable of having peak experiences. A review of peak experiences detailed in his book, Religions, Values, and Peak-Experiences (1964), reveals an extraordinary connection to spirituality and consciousness-raising. He defined 25 qualities of peak experiences that were typically thought to be only religious, but he saw they cured ‘chronic anxiety neurosis… and strong obsessive thoughts of suicide.’ The first characteristic happens when one experiences the following: ‘the whole universe is perceived as an integrated and unified whole.’ In the third characteristic he writes, ‘The peak-experience seems to lift us to greater than normal heights so that we can see and perceive in a higher than usual way.’ Peak experiences are highly valuable—intrinsic to mental and emotional health, giving life meaning, and contributing to high-level wellness.”

Transpersonal Psychology has characteristically been associated with the study of the peak experience and recognizes the difference between a spiritual crisis and psychiatric diagnoses in the psychosis categories.

Celeste Emelia Mattingly, LCSW is trained in making this differentiation and has helped many avoid unnecessary hospitalizations for what has turned out to be a spiritual emergency, rather than a psychotic episode. She is also adept at fostering spiritual emergence with her own brand of psychotherapy, Celestial Psychology®.

Gestalt Therapy

Gestalt therapy eclectically integrates very well into traditional “talk” therapy, because Gestalt techniques use discussion as a method of achieving psychological insights and emotional well-being.

What makes Gestalt Therapy unique is that it incorporates mindful practice and creative action into the healing process as well. Celeste Emelia Mattingly, LCSW may ask you to utilize the Gestalt Therapy techniques of role-play and/or the empty-chair, which involves imagining the object of your resentment is seated in an empty chair in the office, and expressing or venting your bottled up emotions and cognitions.

This therapy is readily identified with the third chakra, which is named Manipura and is considered the action chakra.

If you are seeking to break free of old patterns, assume control of your life, and develop your core self you will benefit greatly from Gestalt techniques, which are fully integrated into talk therapy sessions with Celeste.

Twelve-Step Facilitation

You are invited to an in-depth exploration and comparison of your own understanding versus the traditional understanding of the Twelve Steps of any of anonymous fellowships.

Celeste Emelia Mattingly, LCSW also uses a synthesis of various therapeutic techniques which are geared towards helping you achieve your abstinence and mental health goals as quickly as possible.

Twelve-Step Facilitation (TSF) therapy is especially useful if you have been unable to reach your goals with traditional program attendance alone or with psychotherapy with other providers. Celeste Emelia Mattingly, LCSW is a therapist who will challenge you to abandon self-defeating defense mechanisms, which are the root of relapse and are often missed with meetings alone. You will learn to acknowledge hidden underlying emotions to yourself, and the people important in your life and your recovery.

TWELVE PROMISES of AA

If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are half way through.
  1. We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
  2. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.
  3. We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.
  4. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others.
  5. That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear.
  6. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows.
  7. Self-seeking will slip away.
  8. Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change.
  9. Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us.
  10. We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us.
  11. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.
  12. Are these extravagant promises? We think not. They are being fulfilled among us—sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize if we work for them.

The rewards of Twelve-Step Facilitation therapy are dramatic and sustained healing is possible in a relatively short period of time. If you are seeking to break free of old patterns, assume control of your life, and develop your core self you can benefit greatly from TSF techniques, which are fully integrated into talk therapy sessions with Celeste.
